Ingredients
3tablespoonbutter
2eachonions, minced
8cupwater
2cupsplit peas, dried
5eachgarlic, cloves
1eachbay leaf
1/2poundbacon, cut crosswise
2eachcelery stalks, chopped
2eachcarrots, diced
1/4teaspoonmarjoram
1tablespoonsalt
1/2teaspoonpepper

Directions:

Put all ingredients into crockpot. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. Before serving remove bay leaf and cloves.
